“Certified translation / Sworn translation”

A certified translation or sworn translation is a translation of an official document accompanied by a signed official statement attesting that the translation is accurate and complete to the best of the translator's knowledge and ability.

International embassies, state institutions, agencies, courts of law, and other such legal bodies generally require different certifications when dealing with translated materials. At Legal Translation & Interpretation, we match the services we provide to the different levels of legal recognition that are regularly demanded.

“Apostille and Legalization”

An Apostille is a certificate issued by a designated authority in a country where the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization of Foreign Public Documents, Apostille Convention, is in force. This is the most exclusive form of certification, and requires a legalized translation. Apostilles authenticate the seals and signatures of officials on public documents such as birth certificates, notarials, court orders, or any other document issued by a public authority, so that they can be recognized in foreign countries that are parties to the Convention.

Legalization of original documents can only be issued by a designated authority. Those requiring Legalization of documents can have them legalized direct with the designated authority or via third party agencies or embassies. Legalizations authenticate the seals and signatures of officials on public documents such as birth certificates, notarials, court orders, or any other document issued by a public authority, so that they can be recognized in foreign countries.
